Oscar, once of Chelsea fame, gave this week a very interesting interview to Premier League Brasil.

The 31-year-old, who’s been in China for six years now, not only recalled his time with the Blues, but also spoke about their current form and even mentioned a potential return to the Premier League.

Oscar claims to still watch Chelsea, besides keeping contact with his old teammates. So he was asked about the club signing a new Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, who’s set to join them this summer.

“Andrey will be more like Ramires, he’s a defensive midfielder. I saw some of his games in the U20 national team, he’s a boy who has a super opportunity to succeed at Chelsea. Chelsea are a team that is difficult to play in, that always has a lot of players.”

“Right now they have signed many and almost none of them are working because it’s a difficult team to adapt to. But he has everything to achieve, there’s this history of Brazilians who play in midfield and worked out well.”

“I never spoke to him, no. But I followed because I saw that he was going to Chelsea, I thought ‘let me see this boy playing to follow a little more’, then I saw in the U20 national team. He’s a strong boy, who fights a lot for the ball, who knows how to play, so he has everything to work out.”

PL Brasil then mentioned that back in 2017, Oscar claimed he’d like to return to Europe in two or three years.

He was asked if he still has that dream, and ended up confirming the wish of playing in top leagues once again.

“I don’t think so. As I played for Chelsea for five years, I fulfilled my dream of playing for a big club in Europe. But something at a cool club shows up, of course, we can think about it.”

“The Premier League is my favourite league. It’s where I played, where I adapt very well, there’s a game similar to mine, a dynamic and very fast game, so it was a league that I really enjoyed playing. If I could go back to the Premier League, that would be really cool. I also like Italy, I have an Italian passport.”

With Oscar having left Chelsea for China so young, people tend to think he’s older than he actually is.

But at 31, perhaps he could still get a chance to play for an English or an Italian club in a near future. That could even open doors for a potential return to the national team.
