Borussia Dortmund have insisted that Fabio Silva is not looking to leave in January, despite disappointing since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer.

That’s according to BILD. They cover comments from Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl today on the matter.

A report this week indicated that Silva was seeking a lightning-fast exit from Dortmund in January. He’s had a difficult time at the German club since arriving from Wolves in the summer.

That continued this week. He was supposed to make it 4-0 against Villarreal from the spot. But instead of further boosting his confidence, he blasted the ball against the crossbar. It was a major missed opportunity for the striker.

The former Wolves man is yet to find his footing in Dortmund. He is considered at best, ‘a part-time player’. It is because of that which has led to reports that he could be set for a quick exit in January.

That would certainly be a surprise given Silva was supposed to see Dortmund as the club in which to settle down after years of bouncing around various clubs on loan at Wolves.

“The rumours have surfaced in the last few days,” Kehl said.

“To be honest, Fabio hasn’t been in touch with me and told me he wants to leave in the winter. I think every time he’s been substituted on, he’s shown what qualities he brings, how hungry he is.

“Frankly, it’s not our plan to let go of players in the winter that we’re counting on, players we’re counting on for the long term.”

BILD, though, question whether Silva sees it the same way. He ‘desperately’ wants to go to the World Cup. That’s going to be difficult with limited playing time this season. The newspaper says it’s ‘no wonder he’s considering’ his future.

He, it seems, is on a very different page to the likes of Kehl. And January could prove to be very interesting as a result.
