Jhon Durán was restricted to a limited role at Aston Villa in the second half of last season.
The striker, who arrived at Villa Park in January, was subject to interest from several clubs in the last window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Aston Villa director Monchi had received calls to ask about the 19-year-old but the interest wasn’t encouraged.
That’s because Unai Emery wants to bet on Durán and the player has repaid his manager’s faith and trust by scoring four goals from eight games this season.
The Colombia international continues to be a substitute at Aston Villa and managed 200 minutes this season. The report states the former Arsenal manager wants him to ‘continue to mature’.
Corriere state there will be ‘no shortage of offers’ for the frontman in January. Regardless, Emery and Aston Villa will not allow the South American to leave as they want him to continue his development at the club.
Durán’s ‘eruption’ at the Premier League side has generated a lot of enthusiasm in Colombia and there’s a belief he can excel further under Emery’s orders.
