Watford signed goalkeeper Egil Selvik from Udinese in the January transfer window.
He arrived on a permanent transfer and since joining he has played four times in the Championship and established himself as the Hornets’ first-choice between the sticks. He’s started the last four games for Tom Cleverley’s side.
As Selvik enjoys life at Watford, there is a crisis brewing at former club Udinese.
TuttoUdinese have looked at that in detail, stating that goalkeeper Razvan Sava has been ruled out for multiple weeks due to injury. This has happened months after regular first-choice Maduka Okoye also picked up an injury.
Selvik was signed early in January and despite the issues between the sticks, he was quickly sold to Watford in the same window. That is because Udinese have a lot of belief in young stopper Edoardo Piana.
The feeling is that they do not regret selling 27-year-old Selvik to the London club and he was an expendable entity.
They will now play Piana more often, showcasing their belief in younger players and backing them.
Considering how Selvik had arrived on a free transfer, they made a profit from his sale since Watford paid an undisclosed fee for the Norwegian.
