Isak Hansen-Aarøen has revealed his liking towards Manchester United and their plans for him made it easier for him to join them over the likes of Liverpool and Everton.

The young midfielder came up through Norwegian side Tromsø IL’s academy and during his time with them, he attracted interest from the two Merseyside clubs, the Red Devils and a few other sides.

Hansen-Aarøen underwent trials at both Liverpool and the Toffees before United came into the picture for his signing.

The Reds and Everton were looking to take the Norway U19 international before he joined the Manchester club, but it was the latter’s detailed plan for his future convinced him to pick United over other suitors.

“After that [trial at United], there was no point in visiting other clubs, because then I felt that I had found the right one,” he told Dagbladet.

When asked what was ‘so special’ about United, Hansen-Aarøen explained: “That was how they received me. When they showed the plans for the future, it felt very right.”

“United were my team from before. I did not have much choice there, since my father is a United supporter. Then it became natural for me to follow him. This makes it extra special when you play for a club you have followed for a long time.”

The 17-year-old joined United’s academy in 2020, a year after he agreed to join them. He signed his first professional contract with last summer.

Hansen-Aarøen signed a pre-contract with the English club when Ole Gunnar Solskjær was in charge at Old Trafford.

Regarding the former United manager, he said: “Solskjær was the coach when I signed the pre-contract. So, every time we went to England he was out for dinner with me, dad and mom. So, I’ve met him quite a few times, yes. He’s a very nice guy.”

The teenager has is yet to represent United’s senior team, but has already trained with them, where he was well received by the likes of Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho.
