Sporting Club de Portugal are not concerned about manager Ruben Amorim potentially leaving for Tottenham this summer, despite the Premier League side showing an interest in him.
That’s according to A Bola, who say that while interviews with Amorim could take place this month, it’s unlikely he will make the move to England.
They say that the Portuguese coach ‘only thinks about Sporting’ and has already been planning for next season for a long time.
That shows his intention to stay where he is and plans for the squad, in terms of incomings and outgoings, the promotion of youngsters and even tactical plans are already underway.
There is no denying that his performance with Sporting this season has not gone unnoticed, particularly the wins over Tottenham and Arsenal in Europe, but the reality is that for him to leave Sporting ‘several requirements’ would have to be met.
The first of those is his release clause, which is €20m, and will have to be met. The second is getting the will of the coach himself.
Amorim has already stressed several times that he is happy with Sporting and would only leave for a club that offers him the autonomy he has at the Portuguese club and ‘guarantees of success’. He values both of those over the figures that could be put on the table.
The suggestion is that Tottenham couldn’t offer both of those things at this point and, so, will remain where he is for the time being despite reports from England of Spurs potentially making their move.
