Last month, Tottenham Hotspur allowed Tanguy Ndombélé to join Galatasaray on a loan deal with an option to buy for €15m.
The midfielder, who returned to the north London club after a loan spell at Napoli last season, didn’t seem to have impressed Ange Postecoglou in pre-season, and that resulted in another loan move.
The Tottenham owned player has managed 39 minutes of action from three substitute appearances this season, and Milliyet journalist Nevzat Dindar has explained why he’s struggled with the Turkish champions.
Galatasaray take on Manchester United in the Champions League tie at Old Trafford later today and when previewing the midweek clash, Dindar hinted why the Istanbul club have not risked using the Frenchman regularly so far this season.
“Ndombélé is overweight. I watched the training. Kerem Demirbay and Sergio Oliveira play in Galatasaray’s midfield. Expectations are high. I don’t think Galatasaray are taking a risk for Ndombélé. I say there is one month for Ndombélé,” he said.
The journalist believes the 26-year-old has qualities to establish himself as a key player at Galatasaray.
“Ndombélé is no ordinary player. I watch Fred with admiration. I said it in the last broadcast, Fred, it would be completely different if he was at Galatasaray, but I think Ndombélé will also make a name for himself,” Dindar explained.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has included the Tottenham man in the squad for the clash against Manchester United, and whether he’ll feature at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
