‘No one would be surprised’ if Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi were to receive calls from the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham still seeking their next manager.

That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by FC Inter 1908, who say the Italian coach is yet to confirm that he will continue as Inter manager next season.

The newspaper explains that they are confident at Viale della Liberazione that Inzaghi will continue his adventure with the Nerazzurri next season despite him earning a growing reputation as they impress in the Champions League.

Those in charge of big clubs around Europe have been impressed by his performances with Inter in Europe this season and that could lead to calls being fielded.

They cite former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as an example, explaining how him getting Spurs to the Champions League final led to him moving to Paris Saint Germain, despite the fact he had lost 13 games in the Premier League the previous season.

The newspaper points out the press coverage Inzaghi has been receiving in England to understand how well he is thought of in the Premier League and state ‘no one would be surprised’ if he were to receive a call from England.

Now, the two big clubs currently searching for a manager are Chelsea and Tottenham, but with the former seemingly appointing Pochettino, that would leave Spurs.

Interestingly they’ve already been linked with a move for Inzaghi, with a report at the end of April stating they were remaining ‘vigilant’ on Inzaghi. If they were already impressed, they will surely be even more so after he guided Inter to the brink of the Champions League final.

Furthermore, they’ve seemingly now decided not to move for Julian Nagelsmann, who had been at the top of the list of candidates before reports on Friday ruled him out.

Repubblica don’t go as far as to say that’s because Tottenham have now turned to Inzaghi, or indeed name them specifically, but insist it wouldn’t be a shock if England called him and Spurs are certainly in the market.

They do point out one major issue, though, and that is the fact Inzaghi has ‘no perfect mastery’ of English at this moment in time, something he would have to overcome if he were to succeed in the Premier League.
