Sevilla have not yet ‘officially said goodbye’ to goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as they continue to dream of a permanent move from Newcastle United.
La Razon report on the 32-year-old goalkeeper today and how Sevilla aren’t giving up yet, despite Newcastle putting a €10 valuation on the Greek goalkeeper.
No official goodbye
Odysseas Vlachodimos has spent the season on loan with the Spanish side, joining last summer when it was made clear he wasn’t in Newcastle’s plans.
The goalkeeper proved to be Sevilla’s best signing of the season, establishing himself as number one and a firm fan favourite. But the deal does not include an option to make the loan permanent.
While Vlachodimos wants to stay and has made that clear on more than one occasion, Sevilla’s finances currently make that difficult. Newcastle want €10m as they try to recoup money on the player. Sevilla’s finances are limited and make that a stretch.
But they’re not giving up just yet. That has been demonstrated by the fact they have not yet ‘officially said goodbye’ to the goalkeeper.
This is something they’ve done with other loanees, such as Batista Mendy and Neal Maupay. Vlachodimos has not been given similar treatment.
€10m valuation
That indicates that Sevilla still believe that there is a deal to be done. The Spanish side simply need to work out the finances of the potential operation.
Newcastle have set the stall out with a valuation of €10m.The goalkeeper is also clear. He has been consistently reiterating his desire to stay for months.
“As I’ve said many times, I feel very good here, my family feels very good here,” he stated months ago.
“We love being here, we love the club, the city. But the thing is, I’m a Newcastle player. So I don’t know what will happen in the summer.”
La Razon even report that he is willing to lower his salary to make that happen. The onus is now on Sevilla to find a way to do so.
