Wolverhampton Wanderers have not submitted an offer to sign Duje Ćaleta-Car, a source has told Sport Witness.

Over the last few days, the Marseille player has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Wolves pushed forward as a potential destination.

Earlier on Tuesday, L’Equipe explained Bruno Lage’s side have offered a fee of €18m to the Ligue 1 side and the amount offered to sign the defender was described as a ‘nice sum’.

It was also reported the 24-year-old is no longer an essential player for Jorge Sampaoli, suggesting a move away from the French club would be the best option for him.

However, a source has informed Sport Witness that ‘no offer’ from Wolves was sent to Marseille for the centre-back.

The Croatia international is ‘staying’ with his current employer, ruling out any possibility of leaving Marseille on deadline day.

This means that if Lage and Wolves still intend on strengthening their defence, they will have to look elsewhere quickly.
