Desperately looking for a centre-back this transfer window, and with the Virgil van Dijk route not exactly a certainty, Liverpool have had to look elsewhere a bit.
Back in mid-July, a report emerged in France from RMC Sport that the Reds were taking a keen interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Presenl Kimpembe, alongside their rivals Everton.
The stance at the time was the 21-year-old leaving wasn’t part of the plans, and it appears that hasn’t changed one bit over the past few weeks.
Now also attracting interest from Inter in Italy, the French defender appears to be happy in Paris, where he gets to share a decent amount of football with Marquinhos and Thiago Silva in the centre of the Ligue 1 side’s defence.
Clarifying things with Foot Mercato in France, a source close to the player said that ‘no offers had been presented to them’, from either Liverpool or the Serie A side, and that Antero Henrique, Paris Saint-Germain’s director of football, had told them the youngster would be fighting for a first-team spot with the two aforementioned centre-backs.
So, once again, it seems JĂĽrgen Klopp will not be getting his hands on Presnel Kimpembe.
This summer, at least.
