Brentford’s talks with Club Brugge over youngster Antonio Nusa are continuing but there is no need to strike an agreement on deadline day.

That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who report that as a deal would only be for the summer, the two clubs are in no rush to strike an agreement.

They explain that Brugge are not expecting any more transfers in or out to happen at the end of the window and their squad is now set.

Talks with Brentford over Nusa are continuing but as that deal would only see Nusa join the Premier League side in the summer, there is ‘no need for a breakthrough today’.

In other words, the pair are in no rush to strike an agreement at any point today and they can work on it in the coming weeks and months.

Brugge, for their part, are glad to see the player remaining and are happy with their squad, believing it can be competitive for the remainder of the season and their plans very much include Nusa.

Journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen provides a little more background detail on Nusa and his potential exit, which had looked likely this month before various complications appeared in his medical.

He explains that the issue of the floating cartilage in his knee which had apparently held up a move to Brentford and led to doubts, is actually a case of a growth injury around the cartilage.

This is slightly less serious, at least according to specialists consulted by him and the newspaper, and so there is confidence on Brugge’s side that the deal with Brentford will go through eventually.

That’s apparently set for the summer, with neither side rushing for now and seemingly happy to take things slowly.
