If getting out of West Ham United permanently this summer was supposed to be the big comeback for Nikola Vlasic, then there needs to be a turnaround and quick.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Croatian is yet to get back to his best for the Italian side after his loan spell there last season.
They explain that while Torino appear to have gotten back on track after something of a disappointing start to the season, ‘one big player is still missing’ and that is Vlasic.
He returned to the club on a permanent basis from West Ham this summer but has not managed to make an impact as yet.
The Italians spent big to sign him for €12m this summer, impressed enough after his loan spell from West Ham last season to finally get a deal done after months of negotiations.
They had been hoping he would kick on after that loan spell, but the player is ‘no longer the pitbull’ he once was for them.
That player dragged the team forward with both his attitude and leadership, and his numbers – five goals and three assists.
Now, after five games he has 0 in both columns and his performances are ‘clearly declining’ as well, something which is causing plenty of concern.
He needs to turn a corner and get back to his best and fortunately he has a manager, Ivan Juric, who is on a ‘mission’ to make that happen for him.
It’s very much needed, or else the decision to bring him in from West Ham will increasingly look like a poor one.
