Estadio Deportivo have reported on the latest forward situation at Las Palmas, with the Spanish side now looking to Oli McBurnie to provide the goals.

The 28-year-old left Sheffield United and went for a Canary Islands adventure last summer, but has yet to score in the league since his arrival.

As explained by the Spanish media outlet, Las Palmas will be expecting McBurnie to fill the void left by Fábio Silva and Sandro Ramírez, who are both sidelined with injuries. The two forwards have provided 50% of the goals this season and will be missed by manager Diego Martínez.

Subsequently, Martínez turned to the former Sheffield United player for their clash with Villarreal at the weekend. This was McBurnie’s first start in weeks, but again the Scotland international failed to score.

Due to injury situation, it’s expected he will continue to start Las Palmas’ upcoming games, and he will need to start bringing goals for the team.

Since arriving in Spain in the summer he’s made 17 appearances, scoring two goals in the cup. Last season he scored six goals in 23 games for Sheffield United.

Estadio Deportivo end by stating to their Spanish audience: ‘He has not scored a good goal since the 2022/2023 campaign, when he scored 15 with Sheffield United in the Championship. He had two consecutive seasons with only one goal in his locker, one in the English Second Division and another in the Premier League.’
