Chelsea are yet to put a firm return date on Romeo Lavia’s latest injury absence, fearing a long spell on the sidelines for the midfielder.

That’s according to DH Les Sports, who say Chelsea are evaluating matters ‘every week’ as they look to get their summer signing back fully fit.

They explain how Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted five games ago that he was worried about the midfielder, who has spent most of this season out injured since joining from Southampton in the summer.

Chelsea have refused to comment on the matter since those comments, with the player yet to return to group training and no injuries provided by the club or his manager.

DH went exploring why that may be the case, fearing a relapse of an ankle injury suffered in the past or problems with his hamstrings.

They report, though, that is not the case, and the 20-year-old is actually being kept on the sidelines because he suffered ‘a big blow’ during his only appearance of the season on December 27th.

He’s been working on the sidelines since and waiting for the green light from the medical staff to return to group training.

Chelsea are evaluating the progress of his injury ‘every week’, but ‘no fixed return date’ has been set for the moment, with those in charge preferring to take the cautious approach.

Perhaps that will come as good news for Blues fans, and Pochettino, who will be hoping Lavia is a firm option in the near future after a disastrous start to life at Stamford Bridge.
