Manchester United may be still to make their official attempt to sign André Onana from Inter Milan, but the Red Devils’ intention isn’t doubted by the Italian media.
Today, it’s newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport who feature a story to explain how the scenario currently stands.
It’s claimed that Manchester United’s formal bid still hasn’t arrived, even though their chief David Harrison is in Ibiza with Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio.
Gazzetta explain that ‘contacts are constant’, and even though the Red Devils have been linked to other names such as Asutin Bijlow and Kevin Trapp, there’s ‘no doubt about the desire’ for Onana.
The Inter Milan goalkeeper remains their preference, and his staff are said to be negotiating the salary he would have in England, as it’d be ‘normal’ for him to double the €3m annual wages he has in Italy.
As for the transfer fee, the Nerazzurri reportedly demand €60m, with Manchester United willing to spend €50m plus bonuses. Gazzetta say that if they ‘meet halfway’, then there should be white smoke for the transfer. Now they wait for the bid on the table.
Inter Milan look optimistic about the move, lining up Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin as a replacement.
