Amad Diallo has managed three goals and two assists from 16 matches for Manchester United this season. This includes a brace in the Red Devils’ Europa League win over PAOK Salonika earlier this month.
The Ivory Coast international’s deal lasts until 2025, with an option for another year.
There’s been suggestions that Manchester United will offer a new contract to the 22-year-old.
Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboué has told Africa Foot that the Premier League side will offer a new contract to his compatriot. He has backed Diallo to have a prominent role under new Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim.
“I think it’s a no-brainer that Man United will give him a new contract. Every time he was given a chance, he always showed his goal. I think it will be even better with Amorim,” he said.
“The composure he shows with the ball, for such a young boy, is excellent. It’s so good to see a player from my home country come into his own and decide games for a club of the stature of Manchester United. I think he will be great, if he has more time.”
Former AS Roma and Newcastle United forward Seydou Doumbia has now joined Eboué in backing Diallo to receive a new contract from Manchester United.
The attacking midfielder arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta in January 2021. He wasn’t able to cement a place at Manchester United, partly due to injuries, and was sent out on loan to Rangers and Sunderland.
Doumbia is of the belief his countryman has overcome obstacles and deserves a new deal at Manchester United.
“He’s had times where he’s struggled, but I think this season he’s been absolutely brilliant, overall. He absolutely deserves a new contract. Manchester United can’t afford to rest on their laurels. He’s a winger worth more than €40m,” Doumbia explained.
“I love the way he receives the ball, his calm, his awareness of his surroundings and of course the big goals and chances he creates, he can be Rúben Amorim’s Bukayo Saka. It’s a nightmare for defenders with the ball at their feet.”
Doumbia has backed Diallo to have a bright future at Manchester United if they were to secure his long-term future.
“He has the potential to be a top player. I have known him for a long time, since he was a child, he has an incredible temperament for a young man, great abilities, good feet. He truly has everything going for him and he will obviously be a highly sought after man,” he added.
“At his age he’s so good, he’s an incredible player, a good person and he makes others better, I think he’ll be one of the best players in the history of Manchester United, if they give him give them the chance.”
