Benfica star Enzo Fernandez is back on being highlighted on the front pages of most Portuguese sports newspapers today.
The reason for it is that, despite all that saga with Chelsea, the player got back on playing for the Eagles and scored a goal in the 2-0 win against Varzim.
Fernandez had missed training sessions and a league match during the negotiations with the Blues, and this comeback is seen as a bit of a statement that he’s committed to the Eagles.
But the rumours about the transfer to Chelsea haven’t been forgotten yet, and that’s why newspaper A Bola features a short story about that.
The outlet writes that following the Blues’ effort for the signing of João Félix, they did not make any new contact for Fernandez’s transfer, seemingly with all their focus on getting a deal for the Portuguese over the line.
It’s said there are ‘no advancements’ on that front, especially Benfica’s position remains the same, as they demand €120m for the move.
It’s also recalled that Chelsea had offered a ‘considerable amount of money’, along with some players, with Hakim Ziyech included. But the Eagles are not open to negotiating that price.
