Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga has promised that he’ll be even better next season, after a solid first campaign at the club.
The 22-year-old has been speaking to Aftonbladet about his determination to impress everyone moving forwards.
Elanga joined Nottingham Forest from Manchester United in a €17.5m deal in the summer, making the decision to leave Old Trafford after an eight-year spell that had seen him rise from the club’s youth ranks to the first team.
He went on to make 55 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United’s first team but it was made clear he was not likely to be a regular under Erik ten Hag and he elected to move on to Nottingham Forest.
That proved to be a smart choice for him as he made 39 appearances in all competitions and managed more minutes than he’d had for Manchester United’s first team previously.
A tally of five goals and nine assists in 36 games in the Premier League was a decent return for Nottingham Forest too and played a key part in them avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
He, though, wants more and has promised that next season he will be even better than what he’s offered this year.
“I think I have had a good season,” he said.
“I scored, a lot of assists and Nottingham hung on, that’s the most important thing. I wanted to show what I can really do. I didn’t get much playing time at Manchester United.
“I played 36 games now. That’s a lot for a 22-year-old. I know that next season will be even better. Now it’s these two international matches, then it’s time for the next season.”
