When the Brazilian media broke on Thursday the news about Newcastle United’s offer for Matheus França, it wasn’t said if Flamengo were keen on accepting that.
The Magpies’ €16m bid for the youngster was reported by several outlets, but it was still unclear whether the Rio de Janeiro side would accept selling one of the most promising players for that amount.
It turns out that as a couple of updates arrive, they claim Newcastle should offer more to get França signed.
Journalist Venê Casagrande claims he ‘doubts’ that Flamengo will accept that amount, stating that deal would only be possible for that price if the Brazilian club kept a huge percentage of a transfer move.
As an example, the reporter takes the sale of defensive midfielder João Gomes, who’s been negotiated with European clubs for around €18m.
It’s said that with França being an attacking player, he’s expected to be worth more.
Some similar information is shared by Goal, as they claim that Flamengo are unlikely to accept that deal, as the player has a market value of over €20m.
