Antoñito Cordero’s move to Newcastle United is now a ‘done deal’ and the Malaga youngster will be moving to St James Park in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Marca, who report that an agreement is in place and brings and end to a ‘long-standing relationship’ that had been brewing since the start of the season.
The newspaper explains that negotiations with Malaga over an extension to his current deal did not come to fruition and Cordero will be departing at the end of the season as a result.
He has ‘opted’ to embark on an adventure in the Premier League and Newcastle United have now tied him down to a five-year deal. The move represents a ‘significant financial leap’ for the winger compared to what he was earning at the Andalusian club.
Newcastle have moved for the 18-year-old after being impressed by his performances this season and have beaten both Real Madrid and Barcelona to his signature.
That’s a significant achievement in itself as his agent has an excellent relationship with those in charge at the Camp Nou and everyone believed his future would lie there.
They, though, could not compete with the offer presented by Newcastle and the Magpies have ended up winning the battle. Eddie Howe’s side ‘convinced’ the player and his family with a ‘solid project’ and offers of regular first team football.
He is now set to be officially presented in June as the Magpies move to bolster their squad for Eddie Howe next season.
