Newcastle United have been dragged into the mix to sign Sporting youngster João Muniz in the summer
Recent reports have stated the Magpies are very interested in the defender and it was also explained they would make an offer after this season to try to sign him.
These claims about Newcastle are relayed by A Bola, who then provide their own updates on this case.
The newspaper dismiss the reports and add that claims linking the 17-year-old to the Tyneside club are ‘nothing but speculation’.
Muniz has been part of the Lions’ youth system since 2019, after having a spell with lower division side Lusitano FC’s academy.
The centre-back has featured 29 times for Sporting’s youth teams this season. Although he hasn’t yet made his senior team debut, Sporting manager Rúben Amorim has already called him to train with the first team.
Muniz has a deal expiring in 2024. A Bola’s title states the defender is ‘bet for the future’, which also suggests Sporting have no plans to part ways with him in the near future.
