Newcastle United have been warned they would do well to move quickly for Joshua Kimmich, with big names likely to move for him if he becomes genuinely available.
That’s according to SportBILD and journalist Henning Feitt, who covers the player today and a potential move from Bayern this month in the summer.
A report yesterday indicated that Newcastle were showing an interest in a deal for Kimmich and had made ‘a request’ to German giants Bayern Munich over his potential availability.
That indicated that Bayern were potentially tempted to sell the German star and a transfer coup was more than possible for Newcastle.
Feitt now explains it remains to be seen whether Bayern would actually sell the midfielder although the possibility is there as his contract expires in 2025 and no talks over an extension have taken place so far.
The belief was that Kimmich would fill the number six role under Thomas Tuchel but that’s not happened, and the German coach seems unconvinced.
He wants signings rather than trying to work with the midfielder and so the idea of a separation to let both parties go their separate ways and get back to their best apart could help them to ‘break out’ of this cycle.
The midfielder has already ‘received a request’ from Newcastle but Feitt warns if his name comes onto the market, the clubs in the picture for him are ‘guaranteed to become even bigger’.
In other words, Newcastle would do well to move quickly for him if their interest is genuine as there may come a point when much bigger sides provide competition and make a transfer impossible.
