Back in January, reports from Italy stated Newcastle United and AC Milan were ready to sign Santos’ Ângelo Gabriel in the winter market.
The Magpies weren’t able to carry out a deal earlier this year and claims from Brazil in February stated the 18-year-old is expected to receive an offer from the Tyneside club in the summer.
Fast forward to May and Bolavip now have a report explaining that Newcastle are in the mix to sign the forward in the next window.
The report focuses on the Brazilian club’s need to raise funds to improve their finances. Their president, Andrés Rueda, was elected largely because of his plans to improve Santos overall, including their economic conditions. The latter hasn’t happened so far.
Therefore, the South American side have a ‘need to make a few sales’ and two players appear on this list; Ângelo and Marcos Leonardo. Newcastle get a mention for the former.
It’s said the Brazil U20 international ‘should be sold’ as early as the next window, and Eddie Howe’s side and a few other English clubs ‘want to sign him’.
Santos are aiming to collect a total of R$250m [€45m] from the sales of Ângelo and Leonardo.
