Newcastle United are eyeing a new manager for the next season, according to reports from Germany.
Bild journalist Christian Falk writes that the Magpies are interested in Julian Nagelsmann.
So far there are few details on Newcastle’s chase for the 36-year-old, as it just seems like they’re planning to replace Eddie Howe.
Falk writes that Nagelsmann, who’s been in charge of the German national team since September, is yet to decide whether he’d like to get back to working at club level or renew his deal there.
His contract runs until the end of July, meaning that they expect him to stay in charge during the Euro this year, with a decision to be made after.
The journalist also points out that Nagelsmann is represented by the same agency as Newcastle defender Fabian Schär, meaning they already have easy access to open the required channel.
The German coach’s résumé includes his jobs at Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, where he also won the Bundesliga.
He left the Bavaria in March of last year and it didn’t take long before he accepted the national team’s job.
Now regardless of how successful Newcastle’s chase for Nagelsmann will be, the news also reveals a desire to replace Howe after a difficult season that has been a clear step back from the last campaign.
