In July, we covered a report from La Nazione about Newcastle United interest in signing Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez.
While the situation of the Argentine has evolved since then and the Italian press have linked both Atalanta and Juventus, it’s insisted Newcastle’s interest hasn’t quite gone away.
Today’s edition of La Nazione, as relayed by TuttoJuve, again covers interest from the two Italian sides, but it also goes on to report interest from Atletico Madrid.
Newcastle remain interested and it’s claimed they do not want to be overtaken by Juve or Atalanta.
Juve are, meanwhile, trying to offer Weston McKennie and Filip Kostic as part of their move, Atalanta are ready to offer goalkeeper Juan Musso. It’s far more common in Italian football for players to be included in deals.
The suggestion from La Nazione previously was that Newcastle would have to sell Miguel Almiron before they could sign Gonzalez.
Since there hasn’t been movement on the Almiron front, the Magpies may be somewhat stuck on pause for this one.
