Newcastle United, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all been in contact over signing SC Angers’ Yahia Fofana.

That’s according to Fraternité Matin, who report that the 24-year-old has Premier League suitors after his performances in Ligue 1 this season.

Fofana has seven clean sheets in 33 games in the league this season and has been voted as the club’s Player of the Season after they came up last season.

His performances have earned him the attention of the biggest clubs in France and teams in Europe, particularly in England. Newcastle, Southampton and Wolves have already enquired about the 24-year-old.

They’ve seemingly been encouraged by the fact that Fofana is ready to move on and take his career to the next level. He would like to try a new experience, and Angers aren’t against selling him either.

In fact, they’ve ‘issued him an exit voucher’ that should allow them to monetise a sale. FM say he is valued at 5-7 billion CFA francs, around €7-10m.

An agreement could be reached quickly with the highest bidder, but it is the club who offer the Ivorian the best career path that will win the battle. Whether any of Newcastle, Southampton or Wolves are that club remains to be seen.
