Newcastle United

Newcastle United are ‘viewed favourably’ by Danilo Santos and his team as they eye a return to the Premier League this summer.

UOL report that Newcastle may have quietly slipped into the lead for the 25-year-old, who wants a return to the Premier League.

Newcaste the favourites?

The Brazilian outlet explains that the ‘saga’ involving Palmeiras and Danilo has now concluded. The midfielder has accepted that Botafogo do not want to sell him to a league rival.

Now they are hoping for ‘similar reasonableness’ from the club’s management when it comes to other offers that may arrive.

The player and his representatives are prioritising a return to England during the summer transfer window. Their priority is to get back to the Premier League following an earlier spell at Nottingham Forest. He wants a fresh start after struggling with injuries for Forest.

Furthermore, a move to England would keep the midfielder on the radar of Carlo Ancelotti and the Brazilian national team. The belief is that there is plenty of tie left in the window for negotiations to make it happen.

Agents like Newcastle

One club ‘viewed favourably’ by the player’s camp is Newcastle. Sport Witness have covered reports of their interest for weeks.

UOL report that Newcastle have already made inquiries as they face a midfield rebuild this summer. With the prospect of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton also departing, more signings could be needed.

Danilo, with his Premier League experience, could fit the bill. So far, they have only made enquiries and not taken their interest further than that. But his entourage would be keen on the move, nonetheless.

Botafogo, meanwhile, believe they can get a better deal from a European club than the one offered by Palmeiras. That was valued at around £23.5m. So, if Newcastle move, they will need to offer more than that figure. For now, they’ve simply laid the groundwork for a potential deal.
