William Carvalho’s love story with the Premier League goes on in Portugal, with A Bola bringing updates today to say this will be a decisive week for the midfielder’s future.
And now Newcastle United and Tottenham have been dragged into proceedings.
A Bola say the first club to make a bid was West Brom, but that didn’t go further than €20m.
The other clubs in the fight are said to be Newcastle United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
All of those are considered able to reach €30m, which is handy for Sporting. That figure is not so far over £25m, and Sporting would likely accept a little less, if the fee came in one go.
Arsenal, Manchester City, and West Brom are then three clubs most linked to Carvalho over the past year. Tottenham and Newcastle aren’t usually in the stories, so it looks like they’ve been dragged in.
That may be for no other reason than assumption, and added drama, with both Newcastle and Tottenham already linked to Portuguese transfers this summer.
