Newcastle United are planning to loan out youngster Antoñito Cordero next season, rather than including him in Eddie Howe’s squad.
That’s according to Diario Sur, who cover the impending transfer today and how Newcastle won the race for the highly rated winger.
Reports yesterday across Spain made it clear that Newcastle have won the race for Cordero, beating the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to his signature.
He’s set to join in the summer on a free transfer and Diario Sur report that he’s now signed a five-year deal with the Magpies.
However, they explain that Newcastle don’t intend to bring him into the first team picture immediately but instead send him on loan to another European club for a year. This will be a team that is participating in ‘international competitions’.
The newspaper says this will ‘surely’ be a team in the Netherlands or Belgium. Newcastle have done this in the past of course, sending out Yankuba Minteh to Feyenoord for a year before selling him to Brighton in the summer.
According to Diario Sur, Malaga had hoped they could still keep Cordero, but Newcastle’s offer was ‘spectacular’ from the start, enticing the player, his family and his entourage.
In fact, his relatives visited Newcastle’s facilities, where the Magpies detailed their plans for the player. This was enough to win them over and ensure they beat Barcelona and Real Madrid, despite the Catalans making a last-minute improvement on their offer.
