Newcastle United target Kevin Zenón has caused concern among Boca Juniors fanbase by announcing he is taking English lessons.
That’s according to Bolavip, who cover the player today and how a recent post on social media has created waves in Boca’s fanbase.
They explain that the midfielder has ‘alarmed all Xeneize fans’ with a post on his social media that they believe is linked to his short-term future.
Zenón has been the leader for the Argentine club since arriving in January of this year in a €3.4m deal from Unión and that has not gone unnoticed in Europe, where several sides are believed to be keeping an eye on him.
Newcastle are one of them, with several reports making it clear they’re keen and even sending scouts to watch him play live in February.
With this in mind, the 22-year-old has now hinted at a possible move to England, posting a story on his Instagram account promoting his use of an English course he had taken up for “specific purposes”.
This has led to growing concern among the Boca fanbase, who have all quickly jumped to the assumption that Zenón is on his way out and potentially to England.
Newcastle are the only English side to be linked as of now so they’re the obvious destination for him and it would make sense for him to learn English before such a move too.
They’d need to pay €15m to activate his release clause according to Bolavip, which isn’t a big figure by any means and may be more attainable for the Magpies given they’re right up against it in terms of FFP and PSR.
The reality, though, is that this is probably just a case of fans putting two and two together and getting five before making a big drama when Zenón has simply decided to learn English.
Sometimes, though, there’s no smoke without fire and perhaps he’s accidentally revealed something with Newcastle known to be lurking.
