Newcastle United sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for €70m last week and are looking for a new winger this summer.

Newcastle United have set their sights on CA Osasuna’s Víctor Muñoz and made concrete advances to sign him.

He joined the La Liga side from Real Madrid in July 2025 for €5m and Los Blancos retain 50% of his rights.

The left winger finished his debut season at Osasuna with seven goals and five assists from 36 matches.

Sunderland made an attempt to sign him in January, but their offer didn’t please either the player and his club. Their proposal was less than his €40m release clause.

Newcastle United would have wait for Real Madrid

El Chiringuito took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report an update from journalist José Álvarez that Newcastle United have made a €35m bid for Víctor Muñoz.

Sport relay more information shared by Álvarez on the Magpies’ attempt and the 22-year-old’s stance.

The Magpies offer includes €35m plus bonuses which takes it close to his €40m clause.

Their proposal to the Spain international is ‘very lucrative’. He will have an important role under Eddie Howe due to Anthony Gordon’s exit. Muñoz, therefore, is willing to accept a move to St James’ Park.

Real Madrid not only retain 50% of his rights but also have a buyback option. As of now, their decision over the Spaniard is unclear.

Newcastle United would have to wait to find out whether the Spanish giants intend to exercise the buyback clause. If not, they could move forward with this operation, and Real Madrid will collect part of the fee.

Eddie Howe’s side are ‘pushing hard’ and it’s unclear whether they can get the deal over the line. There could be more clarity after Real Madrid’s presidential election on June 7th.
