Anthony Elanga left Nottingham Forest for Newcastle United in July. The winger has featured for the Magpies in every fixture this season and has only one assist to his name.

Elanga kept his place in the Sweden squad and Jon Dahl Tomasson called him up for September and October’s fixtures.

The Newcastle summer signing was an unused substitute in Sweden’s World Cup qualifier defeat to Switzerland last week. On Monday, Jon Dahl Tomasson left the winger out of the starting lineup for the national team’s defeat to Kosovo.

He came off the bench after the break to replace Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

Radiosporten, relayed by Fotbollskanalen, report the 23-year-old had an angry outburst when walking through the tunnel.

They report the attacker said ‘this system has to go’, with a stronger word thrown in there.

Fotbollskanalen also relayed comments made by Elanga after the disappointing result.

When he was asked about the manager’s 3-5-2 system against Kosovo, he said: “When you are on the field as a football player, it can look different. We on the field have to take responsibility and unfortunately it didn’t work today.”

In the post-match press conference, the manager was told about the Newcastle player’s outburst.

Responding to that, Jon Dahl Tomasson explained: “I haven’t heard what Anthony has said so I can’t comment on it.”
