In the past few days, Nottingham Forest have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Juventus’ Douglas Luiz but Newcastle United are also emerging as a possibility.

TVPlay, part of the Gazzetta dello Sport group, have looked at the midfielder’s situation in Turin and they state that barring any surprises, the 26-year-old will return to the Premier League.

While he is struggling at Juventus, he is also facing a crisis in his personal life amidst a separation with Alisha Lehmann. This can all now play a major role in his exit from the Bianconeri.

Nottingham Forest have already made contact for Douglas Luiz and are waiting to understand the terms of a potential move.

In the meantime, Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Guintoli ‘will soon begin’ contacts with Newcastle United to learn more about their interest in the midfielder.

Using that, he will look to establish the foundations of a potential move for Sandro Tonali, who is a summer target for the Bianconeri.

Juventus’ idea would be to offer Luiz plus €45-50m for Tonali.

Even if the possibility of Juve landing the Italian is a distant one, it seems as if Newcastle United do hold some amount of interest in Douglas Luiz.

There’s even been talk that a loan is possible, so perhaps the Magpies can keep Tonali and add Luiz to the squad on loan.
