Earlier today we covered reports that Newcastle United have been in transfer talks to sign Baran Yıldız.
There’s now a claim in the Turkish media that Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old Gençlerbirligi attacking midfielder.
Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, a Turkish journalist known for getting the country’s big scoops, has reported on the latest developments regarding Newcastle United’s pursuit for the Gençlerbirligi youth player and states the youngster is signing a 4.5-year deal with the Magpies.
Newcastle United and Gençlerbirligi have been locked in negotiations for the past few days as previously reported in Turkey, but again, there are no details on the transfer fee which has been agreed between the two clubs.
Yıldız has yet to make his senior debut for the Ankara club and is currently involved with their U19s team. In total he’s played 27 games across all Gençlerbirligi’s age groups, scoring seven goals.
Given it will be difficult for the English side to get a work permit for Yıldız, perhaps he will be loaned back to Gençlerbirligi.
He will be seen as one for the future and will now be looking to use this career step as a boost for his development.
