Newcastle United have joined the race for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and could ‘submit a bid’ for his services.
That’s according to Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, who says they also have an interest in Sampdoria’s Omar Colley.
Adding a new centre back appears to have become a target for Newcastle boss Steve Bruce before the end of the transfer window, with Fabian Schär out injured with a shoulder issue.
The Magpies have also let Florian Lejeune return to Spain, leaving Bruce with just four centre-back options, an issue for a side that likes to play three at the back.
They have thus been linked with a move to add another to the squad, and one name that has been mentioned is Juve’s Rugani, who the Italians are seemingly open to selling.
A report on the 23rd of September stated that an offer from Newcastle was being ‘considered’ by Juve and now Longari has added to that.

He states that Newcastle ‘join the race’ for his signature and ‘could submit a bid’ for the Juventus centre back sooner rather than later.
That would suggest that no bid has been made, as Calciomercato stated a week ago, but the interest is certainly there and this is a potential transfer to keep an eye as we get ever nearer to deadline day.
