Newcastle United could be an option for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries in 2025, according to InterLive.it.
The right-back has less than a year left on his contract. He was linked with a move away from the San Siro in the summer window, but no deal took shape. There’s since been talk of the Serie A side offering him an extension.
Dumfries’ deal hasn’t been extended yet, and Newcastle or any other club can sign him for free at the end of this season.
The Netherlands international has been restricted to 42 minutes from two games this season. Due to this, the report talks up a potential goodbye.
Inter’s offer is at €4m per year, which is €1.5m more than his current salary. They aren’t willing to change the terms and are waiting for the 28-year-old’s decision. Meanwhile, Juventus and Newcastle have emerged as possible options for the future.
The Nerazzurri seem to be convinced this will be Dumfries’ last season at the San Siro.
At this moment in time, the Magpies are the ‘most interested club’ to sign the Dutchman. It’s claimed Eddie Howe’s side are ready to table an ‘important proposal’ of €22m for him in January.
Newcastle are ‘in pole position’ to sign the fullback and Inter are looking for options in the market to replace him.
It’s unlikely Newcastle would invest €22m on a player in January, who they could sign him for a reasonable price or wait until next summer to take Dumfries on a free transfer. Therefore, the price level seem unrealistic.
