The likes of Nottingham Forest and Fulham were linked with a move for Juventus’ Douglas Luiz in the winter transfer window and Newcastle United have now emerged as a candidate to land the Brazilian.

TVPlay, part of the Gazzetta dello Sport group. have reported on potential outgoings from the Italian giants and they add detail to the situation of Douglas Luiz, who has failed to make a mark in Turin.

The outlet believe the midfielder’s exit in the summer is ‘almost certain’ and there is interest from Manchester City and Newcastle United.

The Magpies are ‘ready to evaluate’ a move for the 26-year-old. While the Bianconeri’s intentions are yet to be ascertained, a fee of €30m could be enough to sell the ex-Aston Villa man.

That is a reduced price tag from how things were in the winter market. There were claims that a fee of €45m was going to be needed to sell Douglas Luiz permanently and no club reached that mark.

The reduction in valuation can help Newcastle United sign the player, who has played less than 500 minutes in Serie A and has also struggled with fitness problems in Italy.
