It’s now time for the Brazilian media to give their own take on Newcastle United interest in Watford forward João Pedro.

UOL features a story claiming the Magpies have ‘decided to advance’ for the signing in this final stretch of the market. It’s said that following a first £17m attempt being turned down by the Hornets, Eddie Howe’s side are ‘ready’ to send a £20m bid today.

That amount, however, may still not be enough for Newcastle to land the 20-year-old. According to the report, Watford told interested clubs at the start of the transfer window that they expected at least £25m for the youngster.

João Pedro has been used normally for the Hornets this season, picking up a goal over three Championship fixtures. However, relegation obviously makes his departure from the club a strong possibility.

Watford spent only €4m to sign the striker from Fluminense in January 2020. In his years at the club, he’s scored 14 goals and contributed five assists in 77 appearances, but mostly has shown exciting potential for the future.

With Newcastle looking serious in their chase, that gives the Brazilian a good chance to return to the Premier League.
