Two days ago, Cadena Ser revealed Deportivo de La Coruña interest in Newcastle United’s Antonio Cordero. Since then, several other sources have backed up their desire to sign him in the winter market.
On Friday, Cope reported Deportivo are stepping up their efforts to secure the 18-year-old’s services.
Later that day, El Ideal Gallego stated the Segunda División side are close to reaching an agreement for the Newcastle United player’s transfer in January.
AS now report the winger is aware of the Spanish club’s desire to acquire his signature. They will need his approval to go ahead with this operation, but then they probably wouldn’t have started the process without it.
Cordero has been on loan at KVC Westerlo this season, having joined the Magpies on a free transfer last summer. The temporary move hasn’t worked out so far as he’s played just 98 minutes from seven matches.
Over at Marca, they report the second division Spanish club want to improve their attack in the second half of the season. Cordero has been identified as the main target.
This operation has ‘been in the works for weeks and is awaiting approval’ of Newcastle United.
Marca state the Tyneside club want to sanction a dry loan deal. This favours Deportivo as La Opinión A Coruña reported yesterday that they are looking for a straight loan.
