Italy take on Ukraine in a European qualifier later today and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali will miss the clash due to an injury.
That’s according to Sport Mediaset, who state the midfielder will be forced to miss the clash against Ukraine due to a ‘muscle problem’.
It’s stated the Newcastle player will undergo further tests at Clinica Columbus in Milan to find out the extent of the damage and will follow the upcoming clash from the stands.
Sport Mediaset don’t provide more information on the setback but do state that the 23-year-old ‘seriously risks’ missing the Magpies’ Champions League clash against AC Milan at the San Siro on September 19th.
Prior to that, Eddie Howe’s side host Brentford in the league on Saturday and Tonali could therefore miss the weekend fixture as well.
Newcastle signed the Italy international from the Serie A side in the last window and his injury setback would be a big blow to them for their upcoming fixtures.
Tonali has scored a goal from four games this season for the Tyneside club.
