According to a claim in the Turkish media, Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has again been pushed towards a transfer to the Super Lig.
The former England intentional was tracked by Besiktas during the summer window, but a move to Istanbul didn’t materialise for the 34-year-old.
Yakup Çınar says, as covered by Haber Sarikirmizi, that the Newcastle United player could be on Galatasaray’s agenda as their search for an experienced right back continues.
The Turkish journalist claims Trippier has been recommended to the Istanbul side and could be seen as an alternative to Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters.
“The alternative to Kyle Walker-Peters is Kieran Trippier. The 34-year-old, who plays for Newcastle United, was recommended to Galatasaray by agents. He’s one of the alternatives at right-back,” said Çınar.
Since the departure of Serge Aurier in the summer, the right back spot has become a problem for the Turkish club. Subsequently, Gala have been monitoring a number of right-side defenders in this transfer window after also losing faith in summer signing Elias Jelert.
Trippier has made 16 appearances for Newcastle United this season and is contracted to the Premier League side until June 2026.
