Bruno Guimarães has admitted Brazil’s 3-2 loss to Japan left him with “mixed feelings”. Speaking to Globo Esporte after the match, the Newcastle United midfielder tried to balance frustration with perspective.

His comments reflected both the team’s progress and the responsibility of a group still finding consistency under Carlo Ancelotti.

Guimarães started the game once again, confirming his importance to the manager’s plans. He was among the few players to keep their level during a chaotic second half, when Brazil conceded three times in less than half an hour.

The Newcastle United player’s analysis came with honesty and maturity, avoiding excuses while highlighting the lessons learned. “The first half was very good, we controlled the game. Then in the second half we switched off. It was a match we had in hand, and we can’t concede three goals in twenty-five minutes,” he said.

“It’s a mix of feelings, because if you look at the four halves we played this window, three were perfect and in one we had a blackout. Something that can’t happen, especially so close to the World Cup”, he stressed.

Guimarães also pointed out that the group must move on together. He made it clear that unity remains strong, even after setbacks. “We’re together in the good and the bad moments. There’s a lot of positives to take from this match, but those forty-five minutes can’t happen again,” he explained.

The midfielder’s leadership tone shows why Ancelotti keeps relying on him in every match. Even in defeat, his posture set the tone for Brazil’s reaction ahead of the next stage of preparations.
