Newcastle United striker William Osula has already reached a full contract agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt.
That’s according to SportBILD. They report that the striker is fully ready to leave Newcastle in the January transfer window. So much so, he and his agents have already reached an agreement on ‘all relevant contract points’.
They’ve done a deal with Frankfurt that would see him sign a five-year contract with a base salary of around €2.5m. It also includes substantial performance related bonuses.
This agreement is the direct result of Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche and his team. They’ve kept in touch with Osula throughout the last few months after his failed move in the summer.
They’ve ensured Osula remains keen to join them, maintaining contact with the player’s representatives, including the striker, via text message. A clear message has been sent throughout that time ‘you remain our desired striker’. Osula has even spoken with coach Dino Toppmöller about the role he’ll play and how he’ll fit in.
Newcastle United hold the cards
Now it’s time for negotiations with Newcastle again. Frankfurt would prefer a loan with a transfer fee worth €20-25m. That deal was already agreed on in the summer. But it remains to be seen if Newcastle will stick with it. The Magpies do have a ‘fundamental willingness’ to let the youngster go, though.
They would prefer a direct sale, but that’s difficult for Eintracht Frankfurt to do. They can’t afford another flop like Elye Wahi, who cost €25m in the summer. A permanent move for Osula would have to be carefully considered by Krösche and finance director Julien Zamberk.
It’s likely they could do a permanent deal if it doesn’t exceed €25m. They want a deal done quickly either way, but it’s unlikely to happen before January 9th. That’s the first match week after their winter break. Like in the summer, it all depends on Newcastle.
