Even though the recent news regarding Andrey Santos may not sound very exciting for Newcastle United fans, a new report today says the Magpies are still in the race for the Brazilian.
Goal Brasil writes that the St. James’ Park’s side continue to compete for the signing. And even though the club already considered making an offer, that wasn’t made official yet.
It’s said Newcastle should only make a formal bid in the January transfer window, with no rush for a move now.
According to Goal, Vasco want to make Andrey Santos their biggest sale ever. That position currently belongs to Paulinho who moved to Bayer Leverkusen for €18.5m in 2019.
What Newcastle fans are probably worried about is the competition from Chelsea for the signing.
Recent reports from Brazil have been saying that a deal for Andrey Santos is about to be closed. Goal have different claims, saying the Blues are still to place their bid and don’t intend to do that before the end of the World Cup. They’re said to be ‘cautious’ in the talks and are advancing little by little.
That’s why the Magpies should continue to have a shot in this race, at least according to this take on the situation.
