Towards the end of February, we covered claims from Italy that Newcastle United have their eyes set on Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.
A month later, Calciomercato.it provides the latest on the Magpies when explaining how the 26-year-old’s future could shape up.
The Italy international is ‘very popular’ in the Premier League, ‘in particular at Newcastle’. Along with Eddie Howe’s side, Bayern Munich are also in the picture to sign the winger.
The report adds these clubs, in the past, have already approached his entourage, who intend to obtain an improved deal for him. He currently earns €5m per year with the Old Lady.
Chiesa has managed seven goals and two assists from 25 league games this season. He hasn’t had a good relationship with Massimiliano Allegri and the coach’s future at the Turin club remains uncertain.
Allegri’s farewell could convince the former Fiorentina man to not only stay but evaluate the renewal offer. Bologna manager Thiago Motta is said to be the chosen one to replace Allegri and if he were to arrive, Chiesa could relaunch himself under Motta at Juventus.
Despite this, Calciomercato.it state sources from Juventus reiterate that Chiesa’s situation could change with ‘important offers’ from abroad.
With Newcastle said to be keen on signing the player, they would have a chance to sign him if they table an important offer.
Chiesa’s camp are aiming for an improved deal, and the Magpies may be being used to pressure Juventus.
