Odysseas Vlachodimos was limited to one appearance for Newcastle United last season.

Last summer, the Magpies let the goalkeeper join Sevilla on loan and this has worked out well for him.

The Newcastle United outcast made his debut last month against Deportivo Alavés. He played four matches, conceding four goals and keeping one clean sheet.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC say the 31-year-old’s loan signing has been one of the key reasons for their upturn in form. The La Liga club have won three of the four games in which the stopper has started.

Sevilla haven’t secured a purchase option with Eddie Howe’s side. The goalkeeper’s value is rising and previous Sevilla hopes of a €5m transfer now look laughable.

Newcastle invested €22m to buy the Greece international from Nottingham Forest in July 2024. Their aim is recoup a large part of the investment they made.

The Tyneside club are ‘rubbing their hands’ because the goalkeeper’s recent form for Sevilla hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s claimed unnamed clubs from Germany, Italy and the Middle East are all interested to secure his services.

This makes it challenging for Sevilla to keep Vlachodimos beyond this season. It should, on the other hand, please Newcastle United to achieve their goal of recouping a large part of the investment made to buy him.
