Newcastle United had an official at FC Porto’s match against Pacos de Ferreira on Saturday, according to A Bola and multiple other Portuguese newspapers.
It was a local battle and Porto, who were the away team, won the match 2-0.
The Magpies have scouted multiple Portuguese games this season and been linked with multiple players currently doing their thing in the country’s top division.
At Porto, players such as goalkeeper Diogo Costa, Pepe (the 26-year-old winger and not the veteran defender), and Otavio have been linked with Eddie Howe’s side over the course of the season.
Given Newcastle United have watched Porto repeatedly it would appear they have a target, or targets, in mind at the club.
Another possibility could be Mateus Uribe, despite him being 32-years-of-age. The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and he’s been linked with multiple Premier League clubs, and the Italian media claim Lazio have already made a salary offer to him.
A situation to keep an eye on.
