Newcastle United’s Matz Sels is set to join Anderlecht on a permanent deal this season. The negotiations are advanced and Anderlecht are edging closer towards agreeing a deal for the goalkeeper.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, during the negotiations for Sels, the Tyneside club decided to offer Chancel Mbemba to Anderlecht.

The Magpies are ready to include Selz and Mbemba as a “package deal” to Anderlecht. The 23-year-old defender joined Newcastle from the Brussels-based club in 2015 and he is being offered to his former club.

The Congolese international is aware that he does not have a future with Newcastle and is looking for a new club. The Premier League club are looking for a fee of around €8m combined for Sels and Mbemba.

Anderlecht, having initially been not keen on Mbemba, are now tempted but are unwilling to pay the quoted fee so will ask Rafael Benitez’s side to lower the asking price.

Refusal from the English side to reduce the price tag for the two players will see Anderlecht end up signing only the goalkeeper. However, if both clubs can agree a deal for the duo, then Sels and Mbemba will move to Anderlecht this summer.
