Newcastle United have held ‘new contacts’ with Aaron Ramsey about a move in January as the midfielder gears up to leave Juventus.

That’s according to Juventus News 24, who say that the Welshman is ‘more and more convinced’ about leaving Italy.

They report that there have been ‘new contacts’ with Newcastle in the last few days about a move in January.

The Magpies are flush with cash thanks to their takeover, and so there would be ‘no difficulty’ in them matching Ramsey’s €7m a year wages in Turin.

There’s no mention of a transfer fee, although Ramsey is out of contract in the summer, so it’s likely to be minimal anyway.

Juventus are more than happy to sell as Max Allegri sees Ramsey as the ‘very last choice’ for his midfield, and the club would be happy to have his wages off the books.

Ramsey is also ‘increasingly convinced’ about a move back to the Premier League, although whether he’s open to moving to Newcastle is yet to be mentioned.

It’s likely to depend on the options he has on the table, although few are likely to be as willing to match his wages as the Magpies are and they’ve stepped up their efforts ‘in the last few days‘ to make a transfer happen.
